JOHN JONES
John Jones was born in 1932 in Ynyshir/Rhondda. From 1951 to 1954 he studied Fine Art at Cardiff College of Art, and in 1955/56 did his MA at University College of Wales Cardiff, College of Art. He is the husband of the Welsh painter Mary Lloyd-Jones
Teaching experience: 1958 Essex, 1961-1985 Cardiganshire.

Artist's statement: "Industrial areas are the main source of the images that I make. I have worked with etching, screen & block prints together with the making of relief & textural panels using a variety of materials. The work records the remains of sites that are now shadows of their past. Some of the places have a strong physical presence, while in others, there is just a hint of what had been there previously - ridges, scars, ditches..." (quoted from "FFORMA", 2003)
