Peter Walker was born in 1973 in Staffordshire. He regards himself as selftaught. In 1998/2000 he did his H.N.D. in Figurative Sculpture & Modelling at Stafford College. He then moved to Falmouth/Penryn in Cornwall to develop his artistic skills and studio practice. In 2004 he moved to Hay on Wye in Wales.

Statement: Peter Walker works primarily in bronze, and almost exclusively from the figure. “The figure in a starting point from which one can manipulate forms and perspectives that we have experienced from childhood”. His work varies from both fully representational to powerful abstractions. Alongside his sculptural work Peter Walker is also an accomplished draughtsman, producing series of work in pen and ink, oil and refined line work in pencil and charcoal. Further to this he has been a published poet and had a long career in music. Working alongside top international foundries, Peter produces unique bronze sculptures to the highest standard. “Sculpture is by its very nature an intense personal testimony. Powerful emotive qualities are translated into form”.

He is currently working on a number of important projects for the county. These include a statue of St. Piran, the Patron Saint of Cornwall, which is to be located in Perranporth and a monument to the Cornish Tin Miners which is to be located in St. Just.
