Liam Marc O'Connor was born in 1981 in Maesteg, SouthWales. He studied Fine Art in 2000-2003 at University of Wales Institute Cardiff (BAhons.), and will follow this up with a MA course in Fine Art in the near future. His present studio is in the Canton area of Cardiff.

Liam graduated from the University of Wales, Cardiff (UWIC) having spent part of his studies in Italy. During and since his graduation the demand for his work has been significant with numerous commissions. The work of his first solo exhibition demonstrates a maturity and sensitivity rarely seen in a person of his age. He works in oils on canvas and the paintings highlight his extraordinary ability to demonstrate a real sense of feeling and emotion.

Artist's statement: My work usually begins as a story or situation that is constructed and acted, this is recorded using various mediums (film) and later becomes source material for the final piece. The experience of painting an image that was originally viewed as a moving medium inspires me, and has become a focusing point that I am currently following.

Awards: 2005 a 9 month scholarship to paint in Italy

Commissions: 2002 painting for Daimler Chrysler Car Company Italy.

Exhibitions to date: 2003 Howard Gardens Gallery Cardiff (graduates show), "Introlomo" group show at g39 (short film), Price Waterhouse Coopers Cardiff (alumni show); 2004 new paintings show at the Albany Gallery Cardiff (mixed), show at Price Waterhouse Coopers Cardiff (mixed), Summer Show at Kooywood Gallery Cardiff (mixed); 2005 solo show at the Kooywood Gallery Cardiff, Super8 show at G39 Cardiff (short film & paintings); at Cambell's Art Gallery London (mixed): Drawing Projects & The New Magic Painting.
