Mark was born in 1975 in Cardiff. From 1996 to 1998 he studied Fine Art at Northampton College of Art NENE where he specialised in graphic design. He has his studio in Cardiff. Influences: Toby Hopper, Patrik Caulfield.

Mark Cadwallader revels in the visual exitement and the visceral energy of contemporary popular culture. His paintings of city life offer an insight into the vibrant diversity of Cardiff's own urban culture. The work, based around people and places familiar to the artist, seems to succinctly capture the city's unique ambience. The accessibility of Cadwallader's signature pared down style, clean lines & striking colours, contribute to his increasing popularity. Drawing on diverse cultural sources, including photography, graphic novels, fashion & pop art, he discards information until he achieves the composition & balance that inspire his meticulously executed paintings (quoted from a leaflet accompanying the solo exhibition).

First group exhibition at Oriel Capsule, Cardiff, May 2002; first solo exhibition at Oriel Capsule, Cardiff, November 2002 (next exhibition in December 2002 at Capsule).
